Research and Planning: Double Page Spread Analysis
Genre
Indie/Rock due to the the use of colours the black and red and only a tiny bit of white used, looks very dark. Also the artists in the article 'My Chemical Romance', this is shown by the dark colours that they are wearing and also the style of clothing.
Reperesentation
The facial expression of the artists shows that they are dark and that they arent a pop band as a pop band would be smiling and you'd be able to see their face, as you cant always see their face it makes them seem more mysterious and also entices the reader to read the article as they dont know much about the person from the pictures. The clothes that they are wearing shows the genre mainly but also that they arent clean cut and again makes it more intresting to a potential reader
Audience
This is shown by the use of fonts which are quite grunge and the use of the colours which are black, white and red. The way that the abbreviation MCR is used shows its a young audience that it is aimed at. The band are also young so this helps to identify the target audience.
Media Language
The images in the article are black and white which almost makes the article look like a newspaper article, the guitars and mics show that they are a band and the images in the recording studio shows the reader what the article may be about, which is a new album that is coming out later in the year.
Layout
Use of images to break up the text to make it more reader friendly. Use of quote in large font, and 'the best MCR' in white to contrast the background. The text is written in white to again contrast the background. A column at the side helps to again break up the text and makes it appear like there is less to read, as it is a young audience they don't want to be reading alot.

Research and Planning: Questionnaire
As part of my research into my target audience I made a questionnaire to help me identify the price I should charge for my magazine and also what type of articles my audience would like to see in the magazine.

Research and Planning: Music Magazine Contents Analysis
Genre
Indie, you can tell by the use of the colours, yellow, black and white
Audience
The audience is a young audience aged 16-25 as they have used a font which is easy you read and the use of the colours shows this also . The use of all the artists also shows this as they are all aged 16-30 this is what the audience is inspired to become.
Media Language
The use of a close up image on the article about Chiodos makes it seem like the article may be quite a close interview with the artist. The images also show what the articles are about for example the image of a gig shows that the article is a gig review. The artist all are wearing similar style clothes which are all dark colours which is why the darker colours are used on the magazine.
Layout
There are images of articles that the readers may want to read more on the left hand side and the images get smaller as the articles are less what the reader may want to read then on the right hand side is the regular articles in the magazine. The use of the different layout on each side of the page makes the contents look much more interesting. The use of a quote from a interview also grabs the readers attention and makes them want to read the article.

Research and Planning: Music Magazine Anaylsis 2
Genre
Indy, this is shown by the use of the colours and the artist on the front of the magazine. There is also a article which says Indie-rave on it. The font also shows it as it is a gunge
Representation
Pete on the front of the magazine looks like he isn't quite there and this is shown by his facial expression, also the use of the word in the raw relates to the image as he has no top on so it appears to the audience that they will know a lot more about him as he already appears quite striped. He looks quite messy by his hair, the jewelry around his neck and also his tattoo. He is also quite pale which makes it look like he may have even been high during the interview. The font used also makes it look like Pete may have written it himself.
Audience
16-25 mainly men as the image is of a man and it says about his story however the use of the pink shows that its not just for men to read and appeals to the female audience, also by the use of Pete being topless may appeal to females The use of the black and white also keeps it looking indie. The font used also shows the audience as it is a large easy to read font.
Media Language
The image on the front is a medium close up and is at eye level making the readers feel like they can relate to him and that he his on the same level as them.

Research and Planning: My target audience
My Target Audience
For my music magazine my target audience will be teenagers to young adults. Mainly males however some females will also read the magazine. Most will be students either at college or university therefore I have to take into consideration that they may not have that much money so the price of the magazine cant be too expensive also any gig reviews and albums that are reviewed must be not too expensive as there is no point telling the readers about things they cannot get or go to. Most will be from a middle class or working class background so again the magazine cant be too expensive and gigs advertised. They will also want to know about gig going on near them that they can go to and new bands also that are near to them and they could go see for £5 or something. Some will want to know how to play the music they listen to several will play instruments maybe adding a how to play a piece of music would be a nice idea (dependent on copyright). Some will be in bands and want to know how to get to be well known and continue on to university and study music.
